My first visit to Halcyon I ordered a piping-hot cup of coffee and “The Ranger” breakfast taco sans bacon. I was impressed by not only the taco’s deliciousness, but also by the mere atmosphere of Halcyon. It truly emanates a relaxing yet inspiring atmosphere for anyone who walks through the door. I felt at ease and also like opening up my laptop to complete some pending assignments. The restaurant wasn’t too loud, and you can tell the staff there truly cares about offering customers a well-brewed (pardon the pun) experience.
My second time to Halcyon polarized the first, but not necessarily in a negative light. I decided to come back to Halcyon at night and attend their Sporcle Live Trivia Night with a friend. The coffee bar hosts Sporcle Live Trivia every Saturday night at 8:30PM; for more information about trivia night at Halcyon, click here. This time around, I ordered something off their general menu: the Avocado ‘Smoosh’ Toast.
Light yet satisfying, the Avocado Smoosh Toast satisfied my semi-late-night craving. The toast is accompanied by mashed avocado, smoked salmon, and a corn salsa and seasoning that cannot be missed! The crunch of the sourdough toast combined with the tenderness of the smoked salmon and creaminess of the avocado mash made for an excellent combination. Not to mention, winning both rounds of trivia made the night even more enjoyable!
The coffee bar also serves flatbreads, sandwiches, and grain bowls, and is known for its “S’Mores Fondue” dessert. Another plus is that Halcyon has other locations in Texas and California as well— San Antonio, Austin, and San Diego to be exact. So if you’re looking for a Sunday Scaries cure, or simply want to test your trivia skills, head over to Halcyon on Lower Greenville for an experience that won’t be forgotten!
